The CCBS Board of Directors and staff have been intentionally growing in their commitment to prayer. With a renewed dependence on God, we are seeking to make prayer not just a practice, but a posture that guides every decision and direction of the college. As we continue to trust the Lord with the future of CCBS, we ask you to join us in praying and asking Him to work powerfully on behalf of the college in the following ways:
1. Lord, we ask that CCBS would remain unwavering in its commitment to the mission You have entrusted to us. Guard our hearts and decisions so that everything we do brings glory to You.
Mission drift is common in ministry. Nearly all of the first colleges and universities founded in the U.S. began with a mission to train pastors for their respective denomination (e.g., Harvard, Yale, Princeton, William & Mary, etc.) but have drifted from or abandoned their original mission. CCBS’s Board and staff are firmly committed to God’s Word and His commission of us.
2. Father, we pray that You would continue to increase CCBS’s enrollment with students who are called by You and aligned with our mission. Bring those whom You are preparing to be formed and equipped here.
In a day when small Christian colleges are declining in enrollment and increasingly forced to close due to enrollment and financial challenges, we are boldly asking the Lord to send us an increasing number of students who are a good mission fit. We don’t merely desire more students, but more who sense a call to serve Jesus in whatever role and place He chooses.
3. God, we ask that our faculty and staff would faithfully model the character of Jesus in word and deed. May their lives point students to Christ through humility, integrity, and love.
It is not enough for us to only teach the truth of God’s Word to our students. Faculty and staff need to model the character of our Savior to our students to give them a clear example of what a Christlike life looks like. This is especially needed in these days when so many people have come from dysfunctional family settings and sadly, many have had poor examples in ministry leadership positions.
4. God, we pray that You would send CCBS an increasing number of students who are called to serve You as pastors or missionaries, and that You would clearly affirm and strengthen those callings.
CCBS desires to train more disciples of Christ to serve, but especially those who sense a clear call to pastor local churches or serve as missionaries around the globe. We are thrilled to train those who do not have that calling but see those roles as strategic in the expanse of God’s kingdom.
5. Lord, please open doors for meaningful partnerships and relationships that align with Your will and help advance the work You are doing through CCBS.
In recent years, God has allowed CCBS to connect with other like-minded ministries to enhance both our ministry and theirs. These ministries might include mission agencies, local churches, denominational offices, and other Bible colleges and seminaries.
6. Father, teach us to make prayer our first response, not our last resort. May we depend on You fully and seek Your guidance in all things.
Often believers come to the end of their ropes, having exhausted all other options and exclaim, “well all I can do now is pray.” CCBS aspires to make prayer our first response to God’s blessings, to the challenges He allows, and for the decisions that need to be made.
7. Gracious God, we thank You for Your faithfulness—past, present, and future. We praise You for sustaining CCBS and for all the ways You continue to work beyond what we can see.
Since CCBS’s inception in 1973, God has faithfully provided for our financial needs, sent students to us, and blessed us with a godly Board of Directors as well as an exceptional and godly faculty and staff.
