New Student Orientation

Welcome to Carolina College of Biblical Studies

As a new student at CCBS, we want to make sure you are prepared before your first semester begins. Please take some time to review the sections below. This will give you an overview of Populi (learning management system), LOGOS Bible Software, Textbooks, CCBS Email, and our Ministry Formation groups. If you have additional questions, please feel free to call the admissions office at     910-323-5614 or email at admissions@ccbs.edu

POPULI

LOGGING IN TO POPULI

You must initially login to Populi by opening the email titled “Welcome to Carolina College of Biblical Studies” sent to your personal email account. If you cannot locate this in your Inbox, please check your Spam folder.

This message contains your username and how to set your password. (If you still cannot locate the welcome email please contact admissions@ccbs.edu as soon as possible.)

We encourage you to watch the video, “How do I log in for the first time.”

WHERE DO I START?

First, you will want to check out the Welcome to Populi page. This will help you with the basics of getting started.

Once in Populi navigate to your class schedule. Your current coursework can always be found on your Dashboard under “Courses”.

Download and print your course syllabus and weekly workshops. These are located under the “info” tab under files (which is in the lower right-hand corner).

Read and review your course syllabus and week one workshop.

If you need to contact your instructor please email them through your student email, NOT Populi.

POPULI: ADDITIONAL HELP

You can check out articles about submitting assignments, online tests, discussions, financial aid, and more in the Populi Knowledge Base.

ADDITIONAL POPULI VIDEOS:

LOGOS

GETTING STARTED WITH LOGOS BIBLE SOFTWARE

About a week after your first semester begins, you will receive an email from Faithlife Bible. The email is sent to your CCBS student email and will contain information on how to download LOGOS software.

You DO NOT need to order LOGOS on your own.

More informational videos on how to use LOGOS can be found here.

TEXTBOOKS

ORDERING TEXTBOOKS

Students are expected to order their own books before class begins. Textbook information for each course can be found in Populi under the syllabus section.

STUDENT EMAIL

USING CCBS EMAIL

Students are given a CCBS email and expected to check it on a regular basis. Directions for setting up your school email are usually sent with acceptance letters.

We use Gmail as the platform for student emails.  If you use Gmail as your personal email account, you will need to “add another account” so that Gmail will recognize your personal and school accounts.  If you are unsure how to add an account to Gmail click here for directions.

If you are unable to log in to your CCBS email account, please contact the Admission office at 910-323-5614 or admissions@ccbs.edu

MINISTRY Formation Groups

REQUIREMENTS

Ministry formation groups are required of all students.  Students are assigned to a small group and a faculty member who will act as their mentor. Students will be required to attend Chapel. Students may attend Chapel in person, through Zoom, or watch the recording.

Please review the Ministry Formation Handbook for requirements.
