requirements to apply

The scholarships that are awarded by CCBS are donor-supported scholarships. Students must apply for these scholarships each academic year to be considered for the award.

Newly enrolled and returning students may apply, but continued eligibility is based on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), which includes a GPA of at least 2.0 and passing 67% of attempted classes. SAP is reviewed each semester and awards will be adjusted accordingly.

Each student must complete the application and submit a typed essay with a minimum of 300 words containing an explanation of his/her educational and ministry goals and reasons for his/her need for the scholarship.

The amount and timing of awards will be at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. Scholarship funds will not be awarded in excess of a student’s charges for the term. Students must remain enrolled to be eligible for funds.

This scholarship will be awarded to a returning female student who demonstrates godly character and who works with children in her local church or Christian ministry.

Carroll Tarkington was one of the founders of Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers (OCSC), Cadence International now, dating back to 1954. He and his wife Alma served as ministry leaders in the center in the Philippines and opened new centers in Okinawa and Spain. After 20 years on the mission field with OCSC the Tarkington’s spearheaded a new church plant in 1976 in Spring Lake, NC called Liberty Baptist Church, with a focus on military families from Ft. Bragg. During their 20 years of ministry at Liberty, Pastor Tarkington became affiliated with Carolina College of Biblical Studies (CCBS) in the nearby Fayetteville area. He taught there as one of their adjunct faculty for 15 years and was instrumental in growing the College. Their love for teaching the truth of the Word will continue through the Carroll and Alma Tarkington Scholarship Fund.

This scholarship will be awarded to a qualified CCBS student and will be given commensurate with need and funds available.

This $1,000/semester scholarship will be awarded to a qualified CCBS student who exhibits promise for ministry beyond CCBS.

The Ralph Richardson Scholarship is for students whose heart’s desire is to study the Word of God and use it to minister truth to others. It is open to all applicants with priority for those who sense the calling of God to be a pastor or lay leader in the church.
